• Traditional Insurance - The insured purchases coverage that provides protection against the risk. National Interstate is responsible for the settlement and payment of covered claims made against the insured. For many buyers, this is the most practical and cost effective method of purchasing insurance coverage.

• Deductibles - A deductible insurance program allows for a reduction in premiums based on the insured's participation in the insurance risk. The insured becomes responsible for the losses in their retention layer. This type of coverage is most effective for policyholders with large premiums that have a desire to reduce their costs by retaining and effectively managing their exposure.

• Captives - Captives are an alternative way for customers to finance risk. While these programs are a good option for operators who are proactive in their loss control management, captives are not for everyone. National Interstate offers three passenger transportation only options called TRAX U.S. Captive Insurance Program^SM, Calypso and Destination.
